FCC's Chief of State: Meet El Prez

Sup yall,

I gotta admit, when I hit the Crates & Mics Showcase a while back to see Convinced, I wasn't super hip to the moves that the Fresh Coast Collective (FCC) was making...  I was introduced to a few emcees that night that have really stuck with me - don't fret, yall will meet 'em just as soon as I can find the time to introduce everyone...

One dude who is making some noise is El Prez - homey is super ill in terms of his lyrical prowess and dude exhibits a pretty versatile flow.  This Inglewood product attended Cal State University-Northridge and legend has it sold 2,000 copies of his first solo album, Getting Greedy in the West, out of his f-ing backpack.  And, if that isn't enough to entice you to give a listen, dude was also the first unsigned artist to perform in concert at the University...  His subject matter is similar to other LA-area artists who have been bubbling lately - he tells really authentic tales of LA life from his unique point of view - as a multi-ethnic dude growing up in South Central, homey definitely has an uncommon perspective...

I really dig this track called Uaintuponthis! featuring U-N-I and Danja.  It is included on the album Prez-A-Nomics which has been met by a positive response from the Hip Hop community. Peep the video below...

Also, I think the track It is What it is is super appropriate given the recent popularization of that phrase in the Hip Hop community.  I have never really understood what it means, but I have definitely used "It is what it is" to describe a number of circumstances in my life recently.  The earhustla remix is pretty dope too - both tracks feature DNEZ...

Homey also released a mixtape called The Daily Show that is pretty fly as well - Go cop that for free here.  I really dig the track Close to Me - I think that this dude's super relatable, which will have a lot of headz bobbin'...  The track Pink Panther is pretty funky as well...

And, finally, El teamed up with Convinced, Chris Focus, Three 1 Zero, and C-San to release a track called FCC Fastbreak - the track is a hook-free, lyrically dense collection of dope verses from these five emcees...  Below is the track as well as some footage of the fellas performing the song at Crates & Mics...

And, here is a video of homey spittin' a freestyle with Like of Pac Div at the homey Jesse Lee's Rooftop shindig at The Standard Downtown.

I'm sure you'll be hearing more from the FCC in the future (especially here at MyCypher), so get hip yall...  What's the good word?

Peace yall,
-Breeze
