Last night, the fellas from U-N-I hosted a release party for their sophomore album, A Love Supreme, at the Viper Room in Hollywood, and brought a ton of their friends along to celebrate. The album dropped Tuesday, and this project, produced entirely by Ro Blvd, is absolutely brilliant. If you haven't downloaded it for free yet, head on over to YOThurz.com and judge for yourself.
CurT@!n$ opened up for Y-O and Thurzday, and his entrance was pretty fly. Peep the video below to see how dude lead off the set with the song Night of the Living Dope (Johnny's Revenge).
He also absolutely murdered his track Black Folks live to close his set - peep the video below...
When they made their way onstage at around 11, Y-O and Thurz ran through some cuts from all of their projects, Fried Chicken & Watermelon, Before There Was Love, and A Love Supreme. They opened with the song that "got (them) their buzz in the streets," according to Thurz, the sneaker-head's anthem K.R.E.A.M.
After a few more jams from the debut album, they broke into some joints from Before There Was Love, including the remix to Beautiful Day featuring Evidence.
The fellas also brought the homey H.O.P.E. out for Cali Soul - check out the self-proclaimed "nightlife-liver's" performance below.
Then, they brought out Faahz, the human beat-box, for a segment that might be my favorite part of U-N-I's live show. Words never do this justice, so just watch this video.
And, finally, here are the fellas runnin' through one of my favorites from A Love Supreme, called Black Sky. I love the vibe of this track and really dig the direction that these cats took on the entire album!
Anyways, I'll post more footage coming up, but this should be enough to give those who missed out a taste of the event's flavor. Shouts to Chris, Y-O, Thurz, and all the good people who came out to make this event a smashing good time!
Peace,
-Breeze
