MyCypher Video: Brittany Bosco & Mike Baker Live

05.07.09 // By Breeze // ,
Sup yall,

On Sunday, April 26, I headed to the Dakota Lounge in Santa Monica for a show that my man Carl at Fresh MLK hipped me to.  The headliner was ATL songstress Brittany Bosco with Bay-area emcee Mike Baker serving as the opener...  While I wasn't sure what to expect as I was relatively unhip to both artists, I can honestly say that both got my attention and peaked my curiosity...

Brittany's set was killer and often channeled Badu and Lauryn Hill and at one point she bum-rushed the engineer's both after repeated failed attempts to play the right track...  Her charisma is pretty evident - here she performs an older joint called 8-Trak that I was feelin'...

Towards the end of her set, she jumped off stage and performed a few songs from the crowd, which was super dope except for the fact that the Flip Cam doesn't have a light on it...  Anyhow, you can sort of make out Brit performing from the floor and eventually ending up back on stage.  The song is very cool track called Glitch off of her recent Spectrum EP.

The opening act also caught my ear with his blend of electro pop and break beats combined with a pretty interesting flow...  I met dude the following night at the FutureStreet/DrugSounds release party where he gave me his latest project, Now or Never.  Peep the dude running through the tracks The Chase & Too Much and stay tuned for more from Mike Baker on MyCypher.com as I continue to get hip...

All in all, the show was dope - thanks to Carl and Kenya for hooking it up...

Peace,
-Breeze
