So, while onstage at a venue in the UK, U-N-I gets word that The King of Pop has indeed passed, and you can see the disbelief and shock that overcomes the whole room...
I remember sitting in my dad's office when I was like 5 or 6 and just watching the Michael Jackson video marathons that they used to play on VH1 all damn day. At my uncle's second wedding, somewhere in the god-forsaken midwestern state of Kansas, I refused to attend the ceremony if I wasn't allowed to dress like MJ in the Billie Jean video... I rolled into the wedding rocking penny loafers with white sox and my button-down unbuttoned with a wife beater under it (I didn't have a sequined jacket)... Peep Y-O's own tribute (which he refers to in the video) below - dude breaks into this after almost every rendition of Cali Soul, but now it seems to have much more relevance suddenly, huh?
My point is, an icon as big as Michael Jackson was had an influence on almost ALL of us. People deal with grief in different ways, so I refuse to hate, but please do give this man's life the respect it deserves... RIP Mike...
Peace,
-Breeze
